More needs to be done to foster greater employment equality between men and women, an expert has said.
Employment solicitors in Birmingham may be interested to learn that according to Tatjana Hine, vice-president of the World Association of Women Entrepreneurs (WAWE), there needs to be faster progress in narrowing the gender pay gap.
She pointed out that although the pay gap has been decreasing over the past few years, it still remains wide.
'Over time there have been more women in business and things have progressed,' Ms Hine said.
'We are still lagging though and the overall wealth gap has widened significantly, so we are still some way behind.'
Ms Hine added that it could take up to 30 years of 'continued endeavour' in order to make pay levels more equal.
According to figures from the Office for National Statistics, the gender pay gap for full-time employees is 12.2 per cent, down from 12.6 per cent in 2008.
