Initially, four prominent law firms based in South Essex existed. These were Travell Horner, Bates & Partners, Twitchen & Musters, and Robinson & Kelly. Travell Horner and Bates & Partners merged to form Bates Travell, while Twitchen & Musters and Robinson & Kelly merged to form Twitchen, Musters, Robinson & Kelly. However, the latter was a bit of a mouthful, so in due course, they became TMK Solicitors. These two exceptional legal practices continued to operate until they merged to become BTMK, the firm we know and love today.
