Kitson & Trotman

Kitson & Trotman has been advising people in west Dorset since 1756, and after more than 265 years we still believe the best legal advice comes from someone who knows you and stays with your matter from start to finish.

We have offices in Beaminster, Bridport, Weymouth and Lyme Regis, and we act for private and business clients across the South West, nationally and internationally.

Our lawyers are highly experienced in their own fields and remain personally involved at every stage of your instructions, so you deal with the person handling your case rather than being passed along a chain. The service is friendly and tailored to you, and where it helps we can arrange to visit local clients at home or at their business premises.

For you and your family we prepare wills, administer estates and arrange lasting powers of attorney, and we advise on later life and care and on trust management and tax planning. Our private client team includes lawyers qualified through STEP and Solicitors for the Elderly. We also handle residential conveyancing, and family and relationship matters including divorce, civil partnership and cohabitation, with Collaborative Family Law available as an alternative to court.

For businesses and landowners we advise on company and partnership matters, commercial and agricultural property, and agricultural and rural matters under a team headed by a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association. We also act for local authorities, and we resolve civil and commercial disputes through mediation wherever a sensible outcome can be reached without litigation.
