We are defence solicitors, and that is all we are. We act for people and for businesses facing investigations and court proceedings, from our offices in York and Preston, and we are at our most useful early, before a problem has hardened into a charge.

Our work falls into three connected strands. Any business can find itself the subject of a health and safety investigation or a prosecution brought by a local or national government department, and we work closely with companies so that the response to an incident is managed scrupulously and their people and their reputation are protected. On the roads, with close to two million driving prosecutions and fixed penalty notices in a single year, a licence that a livelihood depends on can be lost very quickly. And in crime, an allegation of dishonesty, violence or damage can arrive out of nowhere, including a false one.

What ties the three together is the same thing. Somebody in authority has formed a view about you, and you need a person in your corner who does this every day and is not learning on your case.
