We are Newtons. We started in 2009 in a single office in Knaresborough, and we now have around 110 people working from ten offices across Yorkshire, Cumbria and the North East, in Knaresborough, Harrogate, Ripon, York, Thirsk, Richmond, Stokesley, Darlington, Penrith and Wakefield.

We built the firm the opposite way round to most. Rather than putting everything into a city centre and asking people to travel, we set out to be the local lawyers in market towns and county towns, with one shared back office behind us so that a small office can still call on a specialist. That gives us regional strength and local presence at the same time, and it means the person looking after you is someone you can actually go and see.
