Our story began in 1927, when Thomas Matthew Ridley and Frank Hall founded the firm, and today we work from offices in Huddersfield, Leeds, South Elmsall and Barnsley. We hold the Law Society Lexcel accreditation, we are a Living Wage Employer, and we are proud to be a dementia-friendly and LGBTQ+ friendly firm.

In 2019 we won the Yorkshire Small Law Firm of the Year award at the Yorkshire Legal Awards. We are particularly well known for our Family and Matrimonial and our Care Proceedings and Adoption teams, whose expertise has been recognised by the Legal 500. They specialise in issues such as divorce, financial relief, children, grandparents' issues and kinship care. We are nationally recognised for our expertise in kinship care law, and our team has helped many individuals and families to challenge local authorities.

Our Wills and Probate team is here to help you too, and the Legal 500 has acknowledged us as national experts in probate and trusts. Sadly, many people do not make a will, or surviving relatives are not provided for by a will or under the intestacy rules. This can lead to disputes, and our Contentious Probate team specialises in this often complex area of law.

We understand that buying or selling a house can be stressful. Our Residential and Commercial Property teams have a friendly and professional approach, and we were one of the first firms in the country to gain accreditation under the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme.
