In 1983, Nelsons Solicitors was founded by Tim Hastings and two other solicitors in a modest Nottingham office. Since then, our law firm has experienced significant growth and is now considered one of the foremost legal establishments in the East Midlands, with offices in Nottingham, Derby, and Leicester. We offer expert support and guidance to businesses, individuals, and families in need of legal and investment-related counsel.

We have experienced organic growth and acquired several local firms through strategic mergers and acquisitions across the East Midlands. In 1999 and 2000, we expanded into Derby and Leicester, respectively, and within 18 months, acquired seven local firms.

We have always sought to challenge the traditional norms associated with the legal industry. In 2010, we became one of the first law firms in the region to become a Limited company. Then, in 2014, we received Alternative Business Structure (ABS) status, which enables our employees, including those in management, conveyancing, and investment management teams, to become Partners.

Our specialist expertise and the depth of our resources enable us to offer services to other solicitors through Fusion Legal, which is a mutually beneficial referral and support network for law firms.
